Both use the same 100% recycled plastic lumber top, the same satin black powder-coat finish, and the same factory-direct pricing from Grand Rapids, Michigan. If the RFP or site profile calls for "extra heavy duty" or specifies a minimum tubing size above 2", the Heavy-Duty version is the answer.

It depends on the site. For standard municipal parks, corporate campuses, restaurant patios, and low-vandalism environments, the 2" OD Steel Frame version is genuinely sufficient and costs less. For rest areas, urban parks, high schools, military bases, and any site where a bent or broken table would cost more to replace than the price difference between the two lines, the Heavy-Duty upgrade pays for itself within the first service cycle.

The diameter is 19% larger (2.375" vs. 2.000"). The practical effect is a noticeably heavier, stiffer frame that resists deformation under point loads and repeated impacts. You can feel the difference in person — the Heavy-Duty table sits lower on a forklift, takes more force to rock, and holds up better when a maintenance truck bumps into it. The standard Heavy-Duty Picnic Table does not have the extended wheelchair-accessible overhang required by ADA Section 902. If your project has any ADA compliance requirement, the 8' HD ADA Picnic Table is the version you need — same 2-3/8" OD Schedule 40 frame with a 24" accessible overhang and an ADA-compliant 30-3/4" table height. For volume orders, we can also fabricate custom ADA configurations to spec.

Yes — 100% recycled post-consumer and post-industrial plastic, minimum 95% recycled content. The lumber won't rot, splinter, crack, or fade. There's no staining, sealing, or sanding. Color runs the full thickness of the plank so scratches don't show a different color underneath. Same lumber used across the AOP picnic table line — the only difference between our product lines is the steel frame spec.

The table is heavy enough to stay put in most environments without anchoring — and the Heavy-Duty version is heavier than the Steel Frame by a measurable margin (256 lbs on the 6ft, 301 lbs on the 8ft). For permanent installs, high-traffic public sites, or any location where liability is a concern, we recommend surface-mounting with a concrete anchor kit (sold separately).

Yes. The steel is American-sourced and American-fabricated in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The recycled plastic lumber is American-made. The Heavy-Duty Picnic Table is eligible for projects subject to the Build America, Buy America Act (BABA), and we can provide country-of-origin documentation on request. For federally funded park, school, rest area, or VA facility projects, the Heavy-Duty frame stacks BABA compliance with premium durability in a single product.

Cedar and Dark Grey are the standard recycled plastic lumber colors — both held in stock and ready to ship inside the 14-day lead time. Custom powder-coat frame colors and custom lumber colors are available on volume orders (typically 10+ tables). Essentially none. No staining, sealing, sanding, or board replacement — ever. An occasional rinse with a garden hose is all the maintenance the recycled plastic top and powder-coat frame need. The upgraded steel frame requires no additional maintenance beyond the same occasional rinse.
