Why the 6ft HD Leisure Park Bench
The 6ft HD Leisure Park Bench is the heavy-duty upgrade in Advantage Outdoor Products' classic with-back bench lineup. Same warm wood grain aesthetic as the standard Leisure Bench — same 2x10 recycled plastic planks, same contoured back profile, same satin black powder-coat finish — built on a 2-3/8" OD pipe frame instead of the standard 2" x .065" wall tubing. The upgrade is in the frame, and the frame is where benches fail.
2-3/8" pipe is the premium bench frame spec. Thicker diameter means more steel per linear foot, more weld contact area at every joint, and measurably more resistance to deformation under point loads. It's the same frame material AOP uses on the 6ft and 8ft HD Picnic Tables, so projects that spec "heavy-duty" across an entire site furnishings package — picnic tables plus benches — get one consistent frame standard. That matters for municipal parks, rest areas, and institutional sites where procurement specs list a minimum tubing size.
The top and back are made from 2x10 recycled plastic planks milled with realistic wood grain texture, available in Cedar or Dark Grey. The material runs color through the full thickness of the plank, so a scratch doesn't show a different color underneath, and unlike wood it won't rot, splinter, crack, or fade. The contoured back profile is shaped to support the lower back on extended sits — which matters on a college quad, a library courtyard, or a senior living campus where people actually sit for more than a few minutes.
At 105 lbs, the HD Leisure is substantial enough to resist casual theft and vandalism in the roughest commercial environments while remaining manageable for a two-person install crew. MIG-welded at our shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan and factory-direct — no distributor markup, no extended lead times, no middleman. Standard lead time is 14 days. Volume pricing available for parks departments, municipalities, rest areas, and institutional buyers.

Who It's For
The 6ft HD Leisure Park Bench is the right call when the site needs a classic wood-aesthetic bench AND the frame needs to handle heavy-duty commercial use:
Rest areas and highway pull-offs — 24/7 public use, long service life required
Municipal parks with vandalism or heavy-use concerns — urban parks, downtown plazas, high-traffic sites
Public schools and university campuses — institutional use that doesn't treat outdoor furniture gently
Military bases and federal facilities — BABA-compliant, long-service-life, heavy-use environments
Historic districts and downtown restoration projects — authentic wood look that holds up to vandalism
State and federal park sites — stacked compliance (BABA + DOT-friendly) plus premium durability
Correctional facility outdoor yards — heavy spec often explicitly required
Corporate campuses with high-traffic environments — outdoor meeting points, break-time seating
Hospitality and resort grounds — pool decks, courtyards, walking paths, scenic overlooks
Senior living and continuing care communities — with back support for extended sitting
Zoos, botanical gardens, and cultural sites — visitor seating along exhibit paths
If standard commercial use is the profile, the standard 6ft Leisure Park Bench is the right pick — same classic aesthetic, same wood grain recycled plastic, 2" x .065" wall frame at a lower price point. For backless applications, see the Liberty Bench, Double Liberty, or Odyssey. For modern with-back styling, see the Caroline Mall Bench.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The frame spec. The standard Leisure Bench uses 2" x .065" wall steel tubing — excellent for most commercial environments like HOAs, corporate campuses, and standard municipal installations. The HD Leisure Bench uses 2-3/8" OD pipe — noticeably thicker, heavier, and built for premium applications where the site has a higher cost of failure. Both use the same 2x10 wood grain recycled plastic planks, the same contoured back profile, the same satin black powder-coat finish, and the same factory-direct pricing from Grand Rapids, Michigan. The HD weighs 105 lbs vs. 72 lbs for the standard. If the RFP or site profile calls for "extra heavy duty," "vandal resistant," or specifies a minimum tubing size, the HD Leisure is the answer.
-
Yes. The HD Leisure Bench uses 2-3/8" OD pipe — the same frame material as the 6ft HD Picnic Table, 8ft HD Picnic Table, and 8ft HD ADA Picnic Table. For projects that spec "heavy-duty" across an entire site furnishings package, all four HD SKUs use the same frame standard. That matters for municipal parks, rest areas, and institutional buyers who list minimum tubing specs on bid sheets.
-
Yes. The HD Leisure has a contoured back profile designed to support the lower back on extended sits. This is a with-back bench, in the same series as the standard Leisure. If you need a backless bench, see the Liberty Bench, Double Liberty Bench, or Odyssey Park Bench.
-
Design language. The HD Leisure is classic — warm wood grain aesthetic, traditional park bench shape, built for historic districts, rest areas, college campuses, and trail systems. The Caroline Mall Bench is modern — 1.5" square steel tubing, architectural styling, built for shopping plazas, transit stations, and design-forward corporate installations. Both have contoured backs and use recycled plastic lumber.
-
Two standard recycled plastic lumber colors: Cedar and Dark Grey. Both are held in stock and ready to ship inside the 14-day lead time. Custom powder-coat frame colors are available on volume orders (typically 10+ benches).
-
No annual maintenance required. The recycled plastic planks don't need staining, sealing, or sanding, and the powder-coated steel frame resists rust and UV damage without attention. Routine cleaning is soap and water as needed. Over a 10-year commercial lifecycle, that's meaningful cost savings compared to real-wood benches that need refinishing every 1-2 years.
-
The bench ships with pre-drilled mounting holes, mounting hardware, and assembly instructions. For portable installs, the 105-lb weight provides strong stability in high-traffic environments without anchoring. For permanent installs, surface-mount with a concrete anchor kit (sold separately).
-
105 lbs complete. The extra weight comes from the 2-3/8" OD pipe frame vs. the 2" x .065" wall tubing on the standard Leisure — heavier-gauge steel, more resistant to vandalism and deformation, still manageable for a two-person installation crew.
-
Yes. The steel is American-sourced and American-fabricated in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The recycled plastic lumber is American-made. The HD Leisure Park Bench is eligible for projects subject to the Build America, Buy America Act (BABA), and country-of-origin documentation is available on request. For federally funded park, school, rest area, or VA facility projects, the HD Leisure stacks BABA compliance with premium durability in a single product.
-
The wood grain texture is milled directly into the recycled plastic plank during manufacturing, not printed as a surface coating. That means the texture won't wear off, peel, or fade, and the plank maintains its natural-wood appearance for the full service life of the bench.
